Its every man for themselves. Sam is the "leader" of the good guys and Caine his brother is the "leader" of the bad guys. Sides are being chosen and war is being built. They soon realize that there is a barrier around the "FAYS" ( which is what they call it) I think that Sam has changed the most because he was a nobody that was shy, lazy, now he is popular, everyone knows him.
